A Golf Day That Will Transform Communities

Categories: ALL THE NEWS , Social & Community
Proceeds from the 2017 Celebrity Golf Day went to 2nd Harvest Food Bank who have made it their mission to eradicate hunger in the valley.

Upon arrival golfers received a customised box with essential golf items and branded Swagg Lifestyle shirts. A shotgun start at 12:30 for the four-ball teams was followed by on course activations and some good (and some not so good) golf over 18 rounds. The Vodacom Shop Celebrity Golf Day presented by Safari Outdoor, in aid of The Val de Vie Foundation, provides support for a better life for all in the Paarl-Franschhoek Valley.

The Jack Nicklaus signature golf course, at Pearl Valley, enticed A-listers and sports personalities to play their best game of golf in the Vodacom Shop Celebrity Golf Day, presented by Safari Outdoor on the 19th October. Ryk Neethling, Maps Maponyane, Ernst Joubert, Nick Mallett, Marnus Broodryk, Andries Strauss, Herschelle Gibbs, Dan Nicholl, Rob Louw, Tiaan Strauss, Jacques Rudolph, Vernon Philander, Reuben Riffel, Heinz Winckler, Jacques Kallis, Chester Williams, Hal Luscumbe, Kurt Darren, Thomas Msengana, Pierre Greeff, Matthew Pearce, Warren Brosnihan, Albie Morkel and Allan Donald were all in top form on this beautiful day out in the Winelands.

Proceeds from the 2017 Celebrity Golf Day went to 2nd Harvest Food Bank at the Paarl School of Skills who have made it their mission to eradicate hunger in the Valley. Funds raised will help them feed approx. 106 000 hungry children.

In light of the current drought, the worst in the recorded history of the Western Cape, extreme water restrictions could result in job losses in the near future, due to a potential drop in agricultural produce. Providing more than 2000 Valley children with nutritionally balanced meals during this time is critical. The juxtaposition that exists in the Franschhoek-Paarl Valley as the culinary capital of South Africa and the poverty and hunger within this same area, is an issue

The Val de Vie Foundation is deeply engaged in transformation. This day was made possible by our generous sponsors. With thanks to Vodacom Shop (Headline Sponsor), Safari Outdoor (Presenting Sponsor), Turkish Airlines (Travel Partner), Evolution of African Wealth in collaboration with Finex SA (Commodity Partner), Land Rover Cape Town and Land Rover Stellenbosch (Vehicle Partners), Autus (Financial Partner), Cape Winelands Properties (Property Partner), Swagg Lifestyle (Clothing Partner) and Compleat Golfer (Media Partner). Thank you for helping us feed thousands of hungry mouths! #ValdeVieFoundation.
