We did it again: 100% matric pass rate for the 10th year in a row

Categories: ALL THE NEWS , Education
A big congratulations to our class of 2018 for achieving a 100% matric pass rate!

This achievement means that we have a perfect pass rate since our first matrics graduated in 2009 - none of which would have been possible without the focus of our students, the support of their parents and communities, and the unwavering support of our donors and partners.

Our top achiever, Charanick Schrader, passed with six distinctions and will be following her dream of becoming a Chartered Accountant. As she eloquently put it: "Christel House taught me that you cannot count on being great or having greatness thrust upon you, but rather that the opportunity to achieve greatness is within reach of every one of us".

Charanick is not our only achiever.

Tegan Davids brought home five distinctions and Ameerah Elmie, Micaela Jephta and Siphokuhle Mqwabalala each have four in the bag
19 of our students were awarded 35 academic and 14 Life Orientation distinctions
We cracked through the 80% pass rate for Mathematics for the first time
Our History class achieved a class average of 79.4%, narrowly missing out on a class distinction average
10 students achieved distinctions in Business Studies and 8 students grabbed distinctions in Afrikaans

Our overall bachelor pass rate is 72%, more than double the national pass rate of 33.6%, and almost all of our 50 students have already been accepted for university studies in Science, Law, Engineering, Humanities and Business across South Africa. Through our award-winning College & Careers programme we will continue to support our graduates for five more years, ensuring that each one of them realise their full potential.

It is through achievements like these that we truly make a meaningful impact in the lives of our learners and the many communities we serve - so thank you for proudly playing your part in Christel House's success.
