Hope House has been counselling, educating youth and running courses for counsellors in Cape Town, South Africa for almost 12 years.

Hope House Counselling Centre was established in 2004 in Lakeside, Cape Town.

Judy Strickland, a trained lay counsellor, started counselling from a house in 2004 and soon, Hope House was born. Hope House was started with the vision of offering counselling to those who needed it, without fear of the cost. Courses were also offered at low rates.

As the work has grown, its has been necessary to involve more volunteer lay counsellors and group leaders. Hope House now has approximately 60 volunteer counsellors. In 2008 Hope House moved into a more spacious property in Bergvliet. This was made possible by the generosity of St Martin’s Church. In 2012 we opened an addiction programme in Steenberg (now closed) and in 2014 we opened an addiction counselling centre in Kuilsriver

Hope House has received the following awards:

2017 – Nation Building award from Community Chest

2014 - Certificate of Recognition from the City of Cape Town for services rendered to the community and the promotion of wellbeing in 2014.
