Covid left many vulnerable: Shiloh - Community in action

Author: Shilo

It has indeed been a privilege for Shiloh to provide our nutritious, well-balanced meals to the many who had lost their jobs or could not have earned a living during these challenging times.

Being classified by the authorities as an essential service provider, Shiloh Food had been inundated with requests for food during the first few months of lock-down.

During lock-down 2020 we were abundantly blessed with large volumes of donated food products that we could generously share with those in need. It has indeed been a heart-warming experience to be part of the generosity expressed by so many individuals, farmers, manufacturers, supermarket chains, businesses and organisations in assisting fellow South Africans to cope with the pandemic.

To have coped with the huge demand, we produced meals seven days a week. During this time our daily production rate had almost more than doubled compared to our average production. This was made possible by means of donations to our Shiloh Lock-down Meal Fund.

However as the rate of poverty is rising at an alarming rate as many lost their income our means also had a downward spiral.
