We are pleased to share the 2023 Shoprite Holdings Integrated Report and Sustainability Report.
From employee training and development, to investing millions in the communities that we are a part of and embracing energy efficiency throughout our operations to reduce greenhouse gas emissions – we are intent on delivering on our purpose of uplifting lives every day.
In the past financial year:
- the Group invested R645 million in employee training and development of which R130 million was invested in unemployed youth through the Retail Readiness Programme and the YES Initiative,
- R409 million was invested in the communities in which we operate,
- R184 million was paid to our employees through the Shoprite Employee Trust,
- Our electricity consumption was reduced by 161 million KWh through our LED lamp replacement project and our use of renewable energy almost doubled.
These are just some of the key highlights contained in the 2023 Shoprite Holdings Integrated Report and Sustainability Report, which provide a closer look at our company’s performance, strategy and outlook; and encapsulates our commitment to transparency, accountability and stakeholder engagement.
