MMH honours its Volunteers champions at annual Lesedi Awards2020

Momentum Metropolitan Holdings is proud to announce the winners of its fifth annual Lesedi Awards at a hybrid digital/physical event hosted in Sandton recently and webcast globally.
The Lesedi Awards shine the light on the power of volunteering in all its forms, from payroll giving to face-to-face and virtual volunteering, to drive positive change – and celebrate the organisation’s employees who dedicate their valuable time and resources to give back to and make a difference in their communities.
“The way our people showed up and continued to do their most to act as agents of positive change even in the most difficult circumstances, was truly impressive and inspiring. This made commemorating our people, who had to get creative in how they showed care, given the unique challenges of 2020 where many South Africans were simply trying to survive, more important than ever. We are proud of the culture of volunteering they continue to champion,” Charlene Lackay, Head of CSI for Momentum Metropolitan.
This is why the organisation chose to focus this year’s awards on the concept of ‘We. Stronger than Me’ – focusing on how being connected in kindness and marrying individual efforts can create a groundswell of real change and help foster a spirit of community and active citizenship. Employee’s efforts are underpinned and supported by business leaders using their own voices and actions for good. These all come together to create an ecosystem centered around care that empowers communities and builds resilience.
As part of this ecosystem, the Awards feature seven categories and an eighth grand prize-winner of the Lesedi Spirit of Volunteerism award is selected from those seven winners.
Winners, runners-up and 10 finalists are awarded prize-money to take back to the communities and projects they support, which this year will help build and restore these communities. Winners in each category receive R15 000, while first and second runners-up receive R10 000 and R7 500 respectively. Finalists each receive R5 000. The Lesedi Awards judges are also given R5 000 for the charity of their choice. The total contribution to 2020 Lesedi Awards beneficiaries will be R292 500.
