MySchool MyVillage MyPlanet and Builders, build 3 state-of-the-art Grade RR classrooms for our school.

We are so excited to share the news that our friends at MySchool MyVillage MyPlanet and Builders have helped us to build three beautiful Grade RR classrooms at Christel House. Expanding our Early Childhood Development phase has been a long-standing dream for us and this is the first time in Christel House’s 20-year history that we are introducing Grade RR to our school.

We welcomed our first Grade RR students on the 2nd of August, and MySchool MyVillage MyPlanet and Builders were there to capture the moment. Click on the link below to watch the video.

We are deeply grateful for this wonderful partnership with MySchool MyVillage MyPlanet and Builders which will put an additional 60 students per year on a pathway out of poverty. Our newest students, aged 4-5, will also receive top quality education, wholesome meals, healthcare, psychosocial support, career guidance and so much more as part of Christel House's 19-year holistic support model. The addition of these new classrooms have also resulted in the employment of six new teachers.

You can help support our youngest Christel Housers by signing up for a MySchool MyVillage MyPlanet card and selecting Christel House as your beneficiary. Simply visit myschool.co.za or download the app. Every time you shop at one of their retail partners, including Woolworths, Engen, Loot.co.za, Builders and more, a portion of your spend will be given to a school or cause of your choice – at no additional cost to you. You can now also link your Builders card to your MySchool MyVillage MyPlanet profile and earn R2 for your beneficiary every time you shop at Builders.

A big thank you to all our Mandela Day supporters

We hosted Mandela Day Drop-off event on 16 July at our school campus. For their 67 minutes, we asked supporters to either drop- off food bucket hampers or donate towards our feeding programmeAll donations went towards our 750+ students and their families, which will provide them with hope during these challenging times.

Thank you to everyone who supported this crucial initiative to combat hunger in our communities. For those that would still like to donate and help feed our students and their families, our current feeding programme is still running and donations can be made at: www.sa.christelhouse.org/donate.
Students attend Growthpoint Virtual Career workshop

One of Christel House SA’s longest-standing partnersGrowthpoint Properties, hosted a special Virtual Career Day workshop on 5 August for Grade 11 students from Christel House and the Midlands Community College in KwaZulu-Natal. Through a panel of experienced professionals, the workshop introduced our students to various professions in the property sector, including Property Valuation, Facilities Management, Sustainability, Portfolio & Asset Management, and Corporate Finance.

The purpose of the Virtual Career Workshop was to show students exciting career fields that they can pursue

A Multipurpose Hall that can do it all

After 2 years of construction, we are ecstatic to have our new Multipurpose Hall completed. We are now not only able to house our matric students in our pop-up dorms and help them prepare for the upcoming exams, the hall also transitions into a tutor hub during the day.

As part of our matric intensive program, we provide all our Grade 12’s with a safe and conducive learning environment to best prepare for their exams. For a number of years, we housed our matrics at an off-site facility, but made the bold decision to retrofit our hall with functional pop-up dorms to accommodate our students. The Multipurpose Hall now provides the necessary warmth, silence, safety and security our students need to study for their exams and receive additional tutoring.
