It has been a difficult few weeks for our country. The extended Level 4 Lockdown, a spike in COVID19 infections, bitterly cold weather and widespread looting in KZN and Gauteng have left people feeling stressed, depressed and shaken. Being so reliant on the generosity and goodwill of the public to fund our work in rescuing, treating, rehabilitating and rehoming vulnerable pets, TEARS would like to take this opportunity to thank South Africans for their big hearts and for helping us help animals through the best and the worst of times.

As an organization committed to supporting vulnerable pets and pet owners in at-risk communities TEARS has witnessed the escalating hardships experienced by many people and animals over the past few weeks. It is thanks to your commitment and support that TEARS is able to make a difference to the most vulnerable in our society.

Thank you for your love of animals and for helping TEARS to extend its reach and impact in the communities we serve.

Bobtail Donates 1-Tonne of Dog Food for Hungry Community Pets

A tail-wagging thank you to Bobtail for its generous donation of 1-tonne of dog food to further TEARS' mission to help feed vulnerable and hungry community pets during the pandemic.

Bobtail delivered 40 bags of pet food to TEARS last week, equating to 3 240 meals and full bellies. You can also contribute to this vital cause by donating via www.tears.org.za/give-warmth . Every purchase of pet food, blankets, kennels or more, allows TEARS to help community and homeless pets this winter.

The 2022 TEARS Calendar: Behind the Scenes

Lifestyle and fashion photographer Shane Burnell pulled out all of the stops when he agreed to help TEARS put their best paw forward by shooting the 2022 TEARS Calendar. Exclusively featuring TEARS rescue dogs and cats, the 2022 Calendar is guaranteed to pull at your heart-strings and is scheduled for release in September.

A Belated Happy Birthday to Madiba!

Although TEARS had to cancel its Madiba Day plans for a second year in a row due to Lockdown restrictions, it didn't stop us from celebrating the spirit and the birthday of Tata Madiba. Nelson Mandela continues to be a universal symbol of freedom, non-racialism and reconciliation all over the globe, and an icon representing the triumph of the human spirit. As South Africans, we owe it to the Father of our democracy to continue to live by his example.
