Pinelands North Primary School - Apprentice STEAM Day

Author: Resolute Foundation

The last stop of Resolute’s November Cape Town tour was at Pinelands North Primary School in Pinelands, Cape Town, where we hosted our final free STEAM day of the year.

The day was broken up into four one-and-a-half hour sessions — catering for 122 students in total — and centred on Resolute’s Apprentice course stream. Hosts Christopher Dry and Brynn Cauldwell began each session with an exciting introduction to the world of robotics, followed by a lesson on coding fundamentals of the Micro:bit educational circuit board. Next, students worked in teams, programming their Micro:bit Cars to complete a line-following task.

As part of a giveaway during the virtual Schoolscape Expo, a prize was awarded to Martin Adamson, winner of the Pinelands North Primary School STEAM day.

STEAM days aim to give students a fresh perspective and spark their interest in the field of coding and robotics. A successful STEAM day should leave students feeling confident and inspired. And ours did just that.
