I am delighted to share a recent milestone in my journey as a social entrepreneur.
Dear friends,
I have been awarded a Professional Doctorate in Entrepreneurship from the European International University in Paris. This award, intended for experienced professionals who aim to elevate their industry expertise to higher levels of credibility, leadership, and influence, marks a major highlight in my life so far.
The extensive portfolio of evidence I submitted to the European International University documented 40 years of applying theoretical knowledge to advance the social entrepreneurship landscape. It also included evidence of impactful projects I have led, recommendations from peers, my professional resume, certificates of completion for various courses, and heartfelt reference letters and testimonials from those who have witnessed and supported my journey.
In my personal essay submitted as part of my doctoral requirement, I recounted the inception of Khulisa Social Solutions in 1997. Inspired by my years of documenting indigenous stories told by acclaimed historian Credo Mutwa, I harnessed the power of storytelling to foster healing and empowerment.
Passion for social cohesion
Despite facing numerous career challenges such as limited funding, bureaucratic complexities, and the daunting task of building sustainable partnerships, I remain undeterred. The deep understanding of community struggles, garnered through direct engagement at a grassroots level, propels me to continue to drive significant, lasting change.
As I look to the future, I dedicate my doctorate and my continuing career to advancing social cohesion. I am committed to using the transformative power of unity and collaboration to address the challenges faced by marginalised communities. My extensive experience has reinforced my belief that fostering social cohesion not only improves individual lives but also strengthens community ties and lays the groundwork for sustainable development and peace.
