Unlocking the Power of Innovative Minds.

Author: Resolute Foundation

Children are born scientists, driven by curiosity — exploring the world comes naturally to them.

Since its inception in 2017, Resolute Education has achieved monumental success. What started as a small maths tutoring business at a few local schools, is now a flourishing company that’s launching full end-to-end Robotics and Coding solutions in over 100 schools across the country.

Founders Rajesh Ramakrishnan and Gareth Thomson are driven by the need to make meaningful contributions to the educational landscape of South Africa — a massive undertaking that they’re extremely passionate about.

As Resolute continues to grow, we’ve set our sights on expansion (in Southern Africa and worldwide) and creating ways to give back to the less fortunate, giving rise to The Resolute Foundation.

The focus of The Resolute Foundation is to equip the country's underprivileged students and teachers with vital robotics and coding skills. Our goal is to engage students with the high-level curriculum provided by Resolute Education, and to enable teachers to facilitate exciting classes with our SACE Accredited Teacher Training courses. We hope to inspire, to encourage and ultimately, to achieve sustainable EdTech.

The Resolute Foundation aims to nurture this curiosity through our extensive curriculum which challenges students to think creatively and work collaboratively. As they navigate our courses, students will develop vital skills and discover numerous ways to incorporate technology in their lives.

Interactive learning, through engagement and collaboration, has proven to have a lasting impact on students' minds. When it comes to learning Robotics and Coding, it’s important to create an enriching experience for students. It’s a practical skill — one that can’t be learnt solely through textbooks.

We understand that learning Robotics and Coding can seem daunting to someone who is new to the world of EdTech. That’s why we’ve created a curriculum that is both comprehensive and engaging enough to inspire students and keep them motivated while advancing through our courses.

We strive to mould students into innovative thinkers and problem solvers who will go on to make meaningful contributions to their community. The goal is a better South Africa, and in order to do that, we need to teach students real-world skills. The more we provide students with access to quality education, the closer we get to accomplishing that goal.

Students spend about 6 hours a day in the classroom. In that time, teachers impart knowledge and exemplify core values that help shape the minds of their learners.

But there’s a lot more behind-the-scenes work that goes into making sure students harness the full value of their education. Monitoring their progress, setting tests and assessments, meeting the SGB’s demands and, not least of all, keeping parents happy can be a mountainous task. If teachers don’t have the necessary resources, it creates an opportunity gap that can be detrimental to their students’ future.

That’s why teacher training is a key part of what we do in the Resolute Foundation. We recognise that not all teachers in disadvantaged communities have a background in EdTech. But with our comprehensive training programme, even teachers with little to no experience are guaranteed to feel confident in their technical skills. By equipping our teachers with the right tools, we’re creating opportunities for them to make a long-lasting, positive impact, giving learners the best possible head start at a bright future.
