On the morning of the 23rd of July 2023, approximately 100 WeLoveU members and their families in Pretoria participated in the Clean WORLD Movement to clean up the 2km section of De Villiers Avenue, Danville.

A total of about 200 garbage bags of litter were collected over 1 hour and 30 minutes. The City of Tshwane welcomed the news of the WeLoveU's voluntary environmental clean-up activities and provided garbage bags.

Since this place is densely populated with houses, there is a lot of illegally dumped garbage everywhere. Volunteers of various ages, including young and old office workers, who took advantage of the holiday to clean up, looked carefully around the streets and picked up everyday garbage such as disposable plastic cups and straws, plastic bags, scraps of paper, and waste masks using re-usable bags to create a green environment.

The Global WeLoveU Foundation (hereinafter referred to as “WeLoveU”) carries out charitable activities worldwide to help people living in the global village who suffer from disasters, diseases, poverty and so on. This is to ensure that people live in peace without discrimination of any kind and receive love and assistance regardless of language, culture, race and nationality. WeLoveU was created by Zahng Gil-Jah in Korea in the 1990s and as the Chairwoman of WeLoveU She has given her love to various communities who were in great despair and many have been comforted by her.

Recently WeLoveU commissioned 167 college students from 35 countries as environmental leaders and held the ‘2023 Worldwide Clean WORLD Movement’ in Pretoria. The Clean WORLD Movement is an environmental welfare movement that WeLoveU carries out in various parts of the world with the purpose of ‘a clean environment is the beginning of a healthy life’. It started in Korea in 2008, and as of March this year, 300,000 people from 72 countries, including the US, UK, Australia and Brazil, as well as Korea, have participated. In solidarity with governments, local governments, and international organizations, it not only purifies polluted cities, parks, mountains, rivers, and seas, but also conducts ecosystem protection and environmental protection campaigns and seminars.

Moreover, in commemoration of World Environment Day (June 5), it has been accelerating this activity since last month. Through the Clean WORLD Movement, WeLoveU is praised for contributing to the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals(SDGs), the biggest common goal of the international community, and the realization of ‘2050 carbon neutrality’.

Katlego Makgaleng, a PR Councillor in Danville and a member of the Tshwane City Council who visited the site, expressed his deep gratitude by saying: “Thank you very much, our environment needs to be clean and habitable.” He further said that “the love of Zahng Gil-Jah has touched the people of Danville”.

The Founder of Tiny Towns Danville Ms. Odette Guli-van Zyl who joined the clean-up said “I am absolutely stunned at the outcome of the people who are diligently helping out. Thank you to the WeLoveU Foundation and to the Chairlady.”

The official of WeLoveU who was picking up trash diligently, said with a bright smile “It feels great to do good deeds and what the Chairwoman Zahng Gil-Jah is doing is very good and moving.”

This year is the 15th year that WeLoveU, which creates a sustainable global environment, has conducted the Clean WORLD Movement in South Africa. It has continuously carried out environmental clean-up activities in the city centre and parks in areas with a large floating population such as Cape Town, Johannesburg, Pretoria, and Port Elizabeth.

The ‘One Two Blood Donation Campaign’ is also actively held to resolve the blood supply shortage and spread the culture of voluntary free blood donation. Blood donation is the only way to help patients whose lives are threatened by blood shortages. As such, the WeLoveU is continuing a noble procession of life sharing it throughout the global village with the heart of a mother who gives her children her life freely.

Starting with 10,000 people in Korea in 2004, 98,644 people from 64 countries, including the United States, New Zealand, Argentina, Peru and India, have participated as of March this year. In South Africa, 32 people donated 16,000ml of healthy blood in Johannesburg in February. Recently, WeLoveU has taken the initiative in responding to extreme climate change and global warming with the 'Moms' Garden' project, planting trees all over the world, contributing to making the home of families in the global village comfortable.

The goal is to reduce 66,000 tons of carbon dioxide by planting one million trees by 2026, but as of last month, more than 200,000 trees were planted at home and abroad. As such, the altruistic activities that the WeLoveU has been carrying out under the slogan of ‘Mother’s Love to the Whole World’ have exceeded 4,000 times in 79 countries as of March. About 870,000 people participated in various activities such as emergency relief, poverty and hunger relief, education support, water and sanitation guarantee, and environmental preservation.

Governments and institutions of each country highly appreciated the value of volunteering by awarding the Presidential Awards of the Republic of Korea, the Gold Medal of the US President's Volunteer Service Award (the highest group award, 8 times), the King of Cambodia's Medal, the Ecuadorian National Assembly's Medal, and the Green Apple Award.

Recently, the WeLoveU Foundation appointed 167 university students from 35 countries as environmental leaders, taking the lead in supporting a sustainable global environment. On the 12th, the ‘University Student Environmental Leader Appointment Ceremony’ was held in Korea, and university students who had devoted themselves to protecting the global environment were appointed as ‘Environmental Leaders’.

Moreover, the university students who became environmental leaders said, “We will raise 'the voice to change the world’ to raise awareness of climate change, take 'action to change the world' to create a sustainable earth, and form a ‘solidarity to change the world’ recognizing that climate change is a common task for humankind.” They also pledged to support the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
